Nomovok CEO Pasi Nieminen: CES from MeeGo perspective

This year's CES delivered a nice amount of buzz around MeeGo. There were many prototypes and demos, however not any final products yet. Many new companies are on the early phases of MeeGo development at the moment, and there is a lot of different things happening now on Qt/QML level, too.

The overall convergence of different devices is a very interesting development from the MeeGo perspective. The convergence is now more visible than ever - TVs, tablets, notebooks and IVI systems (in-vehicle infotainment) are starting to share awfully lot of features and use cases, as well as the platforms. The car infotainment systems are now closer to the tablets and handhelds than the earlier versions of car systems, going heavily to the web and multimedia, with very graphically rich UX. This development fits perfectly to the MeeGo model, with multiple suitable device profiles on its way.

This years tablets are based on Android, which is very nicely supporting and paving the way for more open systems i.e. MeeGo for next year.

Based on the talks with device manufacturer's, next year's CES will show us many new MeeGo gadgets. Meanwhile, we need to work on those.
